Is ReelShort free? How many episodes you really get before the paywall
ReelShort is free to download, and every drama starts free. But “free” stops at a paywall, and where that paywall sits changes a lot from one drama to the next. To find out how much you actually get, we looked at 79 dramas on ReelShort’s public pages on October 2, 2026 and recorded where each one starts asking for coins.
The short version: the typical ReelShort drama gives you 9 free episodes, which is about 18% of the story. A few give you close to half. One gives you a single episode.

The middle of the pack is 7 to 10 free episodes. Two-thirds of the dramas we checked lock somewhere between episode 8 and episode 13, while most run 40 to 90 episodes in total. So the free part is the setup, and the paid part is most of the story.
AI dramas and live-action dramas get almost the same free run: a median of 9 free episodes for AI titles and 10 for live-action. AI dramas are shorter, though, so a slightly bigger share of the story is free (19% against 17%).
The most generous dramas

Short dramas with a generous free run are the best way to try ReelShort without spending anything. You’ll see most of the story before deciding whether the ending is worth paying for.

A long drama with a short free run is where costs add up. Married at First Sight is one of ReelShort’s most-watched dramas ever, and 84 of its 90 episodes are locked.
How to get the most out of the free episodes
- Check the total episode count before you start. A 25-episode drama with 11 free is a very different deal from a 109-episode drama with 7 free. Every drama page on GASP shows both numbers.
- Start with short dramas. If you only want to watch for free, pick titles under 40 episodes with 10 or more free.
- Look for the official YouTube channel. Some ReelShort dramas post their opening episodes there too.
What happens after the free episodes
After the paywall, a standard episode usually costs 60 coins, and 500 coins cost $4.99, so about 60 cents an episode. The weekly VIP pass is $14.99 on the web ($11.99 for your first week). We worked out what every drama in this list costs to finish: about $26 for a typical one with coins, and for most dramas the weekly pass is cheaper.
Method: free episodes are taken from the paywall start shown on each drama’s ReelShort page on October 2, 2026. Our sample covers 79 dramas from eight ReelShort shelves, not the full catalog. One title with inconsistent episode data was left out.
